At 14,000 feet above sea level, there’s 50% less oxygen, vicious lightning storms, sudden blizzards, and riches just waiting to be found. Colorado is home to the highest gem fields in North America, but the hunt for aquamarine, topaz and smoky quartz is a dangerous gamble. Armed with little more than their two hands and a crowbar, these modern day prospectors battle Mother Nature, rock slides, and thieves in the hopes of striking it rich.
